ROLE

As Building Surveyor, you will play a key role in delivering a varied portfolio of projects across residential and commercial sectors, including insurance-related surveying commissions.

You will be responsible for managing projects within your level of authority while supporting senior colleagues, mentoring junior team members, and maintaining excellent client relationships throughout project delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Building Surveyor in Nottingham, your responsibilities will include:

  • Inspecting and providing advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of a variety of buildings and sites
  • Undertaking acquisition surveys, condition surveys, measured surveys, and defect investigations
  • Preparing professional reports, schedules of work, and technical specifications
  • Designing and overseeing works using recognised building contracts and current technical standards
  • Managing projects and ensuring successful delivery within agreed timescales and budgets
  • Applying relevant legislation including Building Regulations, Planning, Party Wall matters, and Health & Safety requirements
  • Supporting the delivery of insurance-related repair and reinstatement projects
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, consultants, and key stakeholders throughout project lifecycles
  • Contributing to business development activities and helping to secure new projects
  • Providing support, guidance, and mentoring to junior team members
  • Monitoring project quality and ensuring compliance with industry best practice
  • Maintaining accurate project documentation and records
  • Ensuring compliance with company procedures and Health & Safety regulations
  • Delivering excellent customer service and maintaining strong professional relationships

PERSON

To be successful in this Building Surveyor role in Nottingham, you will bring a strong technical background and the ability to manage surveying projects effectively.

  • BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying
  • Proven experience within Building Surveying or a related consultancy environment
  • Strong knowledge of surveying, architectural, engineering, and construction practices
  • Experience undertaking defect diagnosis and producing technical reports
  • Insurance repair project experience would be advantageous
  • Experience managing projects to deadlines and within budget constraints
  • Good understanding of CDM Regulations 2015, Building Regulations, and Party Wall legislation
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Professional and client-focused approach
  • Flexible attitude and willingness to work across a variety of project types
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team environment

REMUNERATION
