My client is a well-regarded independent building, cost and development consultancy. They offer full UK coverage and deliver high-quality services in project management, building surveying, cost consultancy and development across sectors including residential, commercial, public sector, and mixed-use schemes. My client is now looking to offer an experienced Building Surveyor an opportunity to become a truly integral part of a growing, specialist business where your work will be visible, valued and make a tangible impact.

Role

This role offers the opportunity to deliver a mix of professional and project-based work, including contract administration, project management, and technical surveying services. You’ll be trusted to work both independently and alongside senior staff, taking responsibility for leading projects, developing client relationships, and contributing to the business’s continued growth and success.

Responsibilities

As a Building Surveyor based in Manchester, your role will include:

  • Deliver a broad range of professional building surveying services, including condition surveys, defect analysis, and technical reporting.
  • Undertake contract administration and project management duties, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standard.
  • Manage and lead projects independently while also supporting senior colleagues on larger schemes.
  • Administer JCT contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and stakeholders, building and maintaining strong professional relationships.
  • Contribute to the preparation of specifications, schedules of works, and tender documentation.
  • Support the continued growth of the business by delivering a high-quality service and developing repeat client work.

Person

To be successful in this Building Surveyor role in Manchester, you will bring significant experience working for a consultancy firm.

Key requirements you should have:

  • Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) with 1–3 years’ post-qualification experience, OR strong experience working towards chartership.
  • Proven track record in both professional and project-based building surveying.
  • Experience in contract administration and project management, with strong knowledge of JCT contracts.
  • Commercially aware with the ability to work independently as well as part of a close-knit team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Driven, ambitious, and motivated to take on responsibility within a growing consultancy.
  • Strong organisational skills, able to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work under pressure.
