Our client is a respected UK-based business operating within the gas and utilities sector, delivering a range of technical, construction, and maintenance services. Known for its expertise, commitment to safety, and customer-focused delivery, the business has built a strong reputation for supporting critical infrastructure projects across the UK.

As part of their continued development, they are now seeking a skilled Bid Writer in Derby to enhance their bid capability and ensure the highest quality tender responses are submitted.

As a Bid Writer, you will be responsible for developing persuasive, accurate, and tailored content for tender submissions across gas industry projects, including pipeline construction, network maintenance, and metering services.

You will collaborate with technical, operational, and commercial teams to gather detailed information, interpret client requirements, and translate complex subject matter into clear, compelling responses. In addition, you will contribute to building a centralised bid content library to improve efficiency and strengthen future submissions.

As a Bid Writer in Derby, your responsibilities will include:

• Producing compliant, persuasive, and technically accurate bid content for gas sector tenders
• Reviewing and interpreting ITTs, PQQs, and RFIs
• Collaborating with SMEs to extract technical information and present it in a client-focused way
• Ensuring all bid content meets evaluation criteria and aligns with customer expectations
• Building and maintaining a central library of reusable content, case studies, and project experience

• Coordinating with internal teams to gather information for the bid database
• Managing bid deadlines and schedules, often working on multiple submissions simultaneously
• Supporting continuous improvement of bid processes and content quality

To be successful in this Bid Writer job in Derby, you will bring experience working within the Gas, Energy and Utilities sectors.

• Proven experience in bid writing within the gas, energy, or utilities sectors
• Strong understanding of gas industry regulations, standards, and practices (e.g., IGEM, HSE)
• Awareness of construction projects and methodologies
• Excellent written communication skills with a sharp eye for detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); familiarity with bid management tools is advantageous
