Our client is a privately owned, ambitious consultancy specialising in cost management, project management, and project controls. With plans to scale significantly over the next two years, they are seeking senior leaders who can inspire their teams, strengthen client relationships, and drive sector growth.

ROLE

As Associate Director - Quantity Surveyor, you will oversee the commercial management of high-profile, complex projects. Alongside project delivery, you will play a key role in business development, helping to win new work and broaden the client base while mentoring junior staff and contributing to the long-term strategy of the consultancy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As an Associate Director – Quantity Surveyor in Birmingham, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead commercial delivery of major projects across infrastructure, aviation, logistics, utilities, and real estate, with values of £50m+.
  • Act as a sector lead, responsible for client growth and work-winning.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, leveraging your network to create opportunities.
  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, feasibility studies, and financial reports.
  • Manage procurement strategies, tendering, and contract negotiations.
  • Oversee valuations, cost monitoring, and final accounts.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and RICS support to junior team members.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered with integrity, transparency, and client focus.
  • Work flexibly between client sites (c. 2 days per week) and remotely.

PERSON

To be successful in this Associate Director – Quantity Surveyor in Birmingham, you will ring significant experience working within a construction consultancy environment.

  • Strong track record as a Quantity Surveyor, with Associate Director-level experience (or ready to step up).
  • Previous experience working within a construction consultancy.
  • Proven ability to win work and expand client bases.
  • Excellent commercial awareness, relationship management, and sector expertise.
  • Degree-qualified with chartership (MRICS or equivalent).
  • Passionate leader, with a collaborative approach and a commitment to developing others.
  • Strategic thinker aligned with the consultancy’s growth ambitions.

REMUNERATION

  • Competitive salary £65,000 - £85,000 (DOE)
