Our client is an established and growing construction and project management consultancy with an excellent reputation for delivering strategic infrastructure, regeneration, and built environment projects across the UK.

Working closely with public authorities, local government bodies, and key stakeholder groups, they provide expert programme management, project governance, and delivery support across a diverse portfolio of complex schemes.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of upcoming infrastructure and regeneration projects, they are expanding their senior leadership team, offering the successful Associate Director the opportunity to work on meaningful, large-scale programmes with real regional impact.

Role

As Associate Director - Project Management, you'll play a key leadership role in overseeing the governance, planning, and pre-construction phases of complex public sector infrastructure and regeneration projects.

Working closely with public authorities, consultants, and multi-disciplinary teams, you'll lead stakeholder engagement, programme setup, governance frameworks, and project coordination from early feasibility through to delivery readiness.

Responsibilities

As Associate Director - Project Management, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the pre-contract and early-stage delivery of infrastructure and regeneration projects across the built environment sector
  • Managing governance processes, reporting structures, and programme controls in line with public sector requirements
  • Acting as the senior point of contact for public authorities, consultants, and external stakeholders
  • Coordinating and managing multi-disciplinary consultant teams throughout project development phases
  • Supporting programme setup, risk management, procurement strategies, and project assurance processes
  • Developing and maintaining detailed project programmes, milestones, and governance documentation
  • Leading stakeholder engagement activities and ensuring effective communication across all project partners
  • Supporting project delivery under structured governance methodologies including PRINCE2-style frameworks
  • Providing strategic project advice and ensuring schemes progress efficiently through approvals and gateway processes
  • Supporting business development activities and contributing to the continued growth of the regional project management team

Person

To be successful in this Associate Director - Project Management role, you will bring strong experience delivering infrastructure or built environment projects within a consultancy, client-side, or public sector environment.

  • Proven experience as an Associate Director, Senior Project Manager, Project Manager, or Programme Manager within infrastructure or the built environment
  • Strong pre-contract and governance experience is essential
  • Experience working with public sector clients and managing complex stakeholder environments
  • Background delivering infrastructure, regeneration, or wider built environment projects
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary project teams and consultants
  • Strong understanding of programme governance, reporting, and project controls
  • Familiarity with structured project management methodologies such as PRINCE2
  • Engineering, infrastructure, or regeneration project background would be highly advantageous
  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ideally based within Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, or South Yorkshire, with flexibility to travel to project locations as required

Remuneration
