Role

As Associate Director of Claims & Disputes, you'll lead the delivery of complex construction dispute resolution projects from initial claim analysis through to expert witness testimony. Responsibilities

As Associate Director of Claims & Disputes in Leeds, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead key account management and stakeholder engagement for construction dispute resolution projects
  • Liaise directly with solicitors throughout adjudication, arbitration, and litigation processes
  • Prepare and evaluate construction claims, variations and contractual entitlements under NEC and JCT contracts
  • Conduct detailed forensic analysis of project records and commercial data
  • Manage the preparation of expert witness reports, independent quantum assessments, and technical evidence for alternative dispute resolution proceedings
  • Provide commercial advice to clients involved in contractor dispute resolution across education, healthcare, infrastructure, and commercial sectors
  • Produce clear, evidence-based reports that withstand legal scrutiny and support conflict resolution outcomes
  • Manage your own workloads and mentor a team of in-house surveyors to contribute to the wider team’s project delivery
  • Oversee project delivery across multiple assignments whilst maintaining quality standards and compliance

Person

To be successful in this alternative dispute resolution job in Leeds, you will bring substantial experience in contentious quantity surveying, construction claims, or dispute resolution consultancy.

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline (MRICS accreditation highly beneficial)
  • Hold an MSc in Construction Law, Dispute Resolution, or relevant qualification
  • Proven experience in construction dispute resolution, claims management, or contentious quantity surveying work
  • Demonstrated team management
  • Track record of generating fee income and identifying business development opportunities in alternative dispute resolution services
  • Excellent analytical skills, report writing ability, and communication skills for presenting complex technical arguments
  • Thorough understanding of major construction contracts including NEC3/4, JCT, and FIDIC suite
  • Background working as an expert witness, construction claims consultant, or within dispute resolution consultancy
  • Proactive, detail-focused approach with ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
