
Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Atkins Search are currently recruiting for a motivated and ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established construction consultancy based in London.

My client is a respected construction consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering project management and cost consultancy services. Working across commercial, residential, public sector, and mixed-use developments, they pride themselves on providing practical solutions and building long-standing relationships with their clients.
With continued growth and an expanding pipeline of work, they are now looking to strengthen their London team with the addition of an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
Role
As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support senior surveyors in the delivery of pre- and post-contract cost management services, helping to ensure projects are delivered within budget and to client expectations.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities of the Assistant Quantity Surveyor role include:
- Assisting in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents
- Supporting the measurement and valuation of works
- Helping with cost reporting and monitoring project expenditure
- Assisting with the preparation of interim valuations and final accounts
- Supporting senior colleagues in contract administration
- Attending site visits to assist with progress checks and valuations
- Providing general support to the project and cost management team
Person
To be successful in this role, candidates should ideally have:
- Some experience or placement within a construction consultancy or contractor environment (preferred but not essential)
- Relevant degree-level qualification or working towards one (Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or similar)
- Desire to work towards RICS chartership (APC support provided)
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and contribute proactively
- A positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
