Accounts Assistant


OVERVIEW

Are you a skilled Accounts Assistant looking for your next step in the East Midlands? We’re hiring an experienced Accounts professional to join a fast-paced and growing business within the construction and manufacturing sector.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a busy finance environment, with a strong focus on accuracy, organisation and providing support across the wider accounts function.

CLIENT

Our client is a well-established and expanding organisation operating in the construction and manufacturing industries. Known for its collaborative culture and commitment to quality, the company is seeking to strengthen its finance team to support continued growth.

You will be joining a friendly, supportive finance department where your contribution will be valued, and your development fully supported. This will be an office-based role to allow you to work closely with the team.

ROLE

As an Accounts Assistant, you will support the finance team with day-to-day accounting duties including purchase ledger, sales ledger, reconciliations and assisting with month-end processes.

You’ll play a key part in ensuring the finance function runs smoothly, while gaining valuable exposure to different areas of accounts working closely with the Finance Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As an Accounts Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
  • Processing supplier and customer invoices
  • Matching invoices to POs and delivery notes
  • Assisting with supplier payment runs in line with terms
  • Reconciling supplier statements and resolving queries
  • Supporting credit control and customer payment allocation
  • Assisting with month-end reporting and general ledger tasks
  • Maintaining accurate financial records in line with company procedures
  • Providing ad-hoc administrative and finance support to the wider team

PERSON

  • To be successful in this Accounts Assistant role in the East Midlands, you will bring relevant experience in finance and have the below:
  • Demonstrable experience in an accounts assistant or finance support role
  • Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with accounting software or ERP systems (desirable)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • A proactive team player with a willingness to learn and take on responsibility
