An exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to take another step on the career ladder.

 We are currently working with one of the East Midlands most respected Principal Main Contractors to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial function of their small works operation. The long term career potential for this role is excellent, as the ideal scenario would be that in the medium term you would progress to become the commercial lead for this ever growing division within the larger operation.

 The Role

 The initial function of the Quantity Surveying role will be to provide commercial support from pre-construction to completion.

 You will be responsible for re-measuring works, take offs and producing bills of quantities when required. Also, preparing accurate monthly cashflow projections, financial reports and financial forecasts. In addition you will procure a wide range of sub-contract packages and materials ensuring best value. You will be involved In diverse project types including commercial, industrial, education schemes up to £3m in value.


  • Quantity Surveying experience with a main contractor

  • Experience of various forms of construction technology

  • Understanding of Microsoft Office and MS Excel

  • Experience of a range of project delivery

  • Solid understanding of main contract and sub-contract conditions and documents.

  • An Ability to confidently comment on contract conditions, produce complete sub-contract documents etc.

  • Experience of JCT form of contract

  •  Excellent communicator with a desire to develop a long term career with one of the region’s leading companies

  • Strong understanding and experience across various sectors

  •  Present yourself clearly, concisely and accurately in subcontractors, clients, health & safety and environmental meetings to provide financial and budget information

  •  Demonstrate excellent negotiation skills and build strong relationships with clients, consultants, supply chains and team members

  •  Assist the project team in production of and meeting or exceeding project targets

  •   Make and implement difficult and/or unpopular decisions.
