We are currently looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join a leading main contractor based in Nottingham to provide commercial support in delivering projects throughout the North Sheffield region.

The Role

Our client is looking to recruit a Project Quantity Surveyor into the business to initially deliver a new build hotel in York and around the North Sheffield region. Ideally, the appropriate candidate will be based around the Chesterfield, Sheffield, Doncaster, Barnsley area as this will suit for future projects.

The function of the Quantity Surveying role will be to undertake the day to day commercial/surveying activities of the project, provide continuous liaison with the Project Manager to ensure understanding of commercial matters relating to the project and support successful operational delivery, develop cost plans and work closely with the design team and operational colleagues through the pre-construction process, procurement subcontract work packages, issue detailed tender reports in advance of subcontractor appointments and measure and value works carried out on site.

You will be involved In diverse project types including commercial, industrial, education, residential and PRS ranging in value from circa £5m to £30m.


Experience of various forms of construction technology

Understanding of Microsoft Office and MS Excel

Quantity Surveying experience with a main contractor

Experience of multiple or large-scale project delivery

Solid understanding of main contract and sub-contract conditions and documents.

An Ability to confidently comment on contract conditions, produce complete sub-contract documents etc.

Construction related degree

Experience of JCT form of contract

The Person

Assist the project teams by communicating the finances and budget against project progress

Strong understanding and experience across various sectors

Present yourself clearly, concisely and accurately in subcontractors, clients, health & safety and environmental meetings to provide financial and budget information

Demonstrate excellent negotiation skills and build strong relationships with clients, consultants, supply chains and team members

Assist the project team in production of and meeting or exceeding project targets

Make and implement difficult and/or unpopular decisions.
