Atkins Search are currently recruiting for a Ground works Quantity Surveyor/ Estimator to join a leading 5* residential developer based in Nottingham.
The Client
Our client is a leading housing builder and have been awarded 5 stars for multiple years in a row, they have numerous regional offices and focus on the quality and design of their builds. They are looking for someone with drive, passion and ambition to join their Commercial team in Nottingham.
The Role
The role will be working within the Commercial team who deals with everything to do with cost-effective building, including Quantity Surveying, Estimating, Procurement and Material Buying. The role of the Ground works Quantity Surveyor/ Estimator would be based in the office, helping with the development of sites across the Midlands. Day to day the role will involve Estimating and Quantity Surveying duties and be ground works, road and sewer lead. This opportunity offers flexible working from home and the Nottingham office.
You would be responsible for:
• Maintaining cost control measures and working within the guidelines set out within the group policies and procedures
• Contributing to the conceptual designs/options to ensure the design is kept within the budget
• Completing accurate costing for each relevant aspect of the site development
• Analyse and report on costs and cash flow using the support systems available
• Compile subcontractor recommendations for approval
• Processing subcontract orders, payments and variations, using Excel and Group payment system in line with group policy and procedures
• Be aware of all codes of practice that can impact on estimating such as Building Regulations, NHBC requirements and Code for Sustainable Homes
• Ensure compliance with Group IT systems
The Candidate
The ideal candidate for the role of a Ground works Quantity Surveyor/ Estimator:
• Have ground works experience/ understanding of ground works
• Be from a Quantity Surveyor or Estimating background
• Must have a full understanding of the current market conditions and rates
• Be numerate with good attention to detail, able to gather, interpret and present data to aid preparation of budgets and subsequent valuations
• Methodical, organised and works to deliver high standards
• Articulate, credible and able to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Able to contribute towards the resolution of disputes, problems and cost issues
• Have strong communication skills
