We are currently looking to recruit an Assistant / Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join a leading main contractor based in Nottingham.
Our client is looking to recruit an Assistant / Intermediate Quantity Surveyor into the business and is able to offer long-term progression and development.
Working closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor, the role with consist of providing commercial support to initially deliver a new build hotel in York. Ideally. The appropriate candidate will be based around the South Yorkshire / Sheffield region which will suit for future projects.
The function of the Assistant /Quantity Surveying role will be to undertake the day to day commercial/surveying activities of the project, provide continuous liaison with the Project Manager to ensure understanding of commercial matters relating to the project and support successful operational delivery, develop cost plans and work closely with the design team and operational colleagues through the pre-construction process, procurement subcontract work packages, issue detailed tender reports in advance of subcontractor appointments and measure and value works carried out on site.
You will be involved In diverse project types including commercial, industrial, education, residential and PRS ranging in value from circa £5m to £30m. Projects are JCT & D&B, so experience in these types of contracts are preferred.
The ideal candidate will have completed a QS degree on a part-time basis and have 1-3 years post graduate experience. Additional experience should also include:
Experience of various forms of construction technology
Understanding of Microsoft Office and MS Excel
1-3 years Quantity Surveying experience with a main contractor
Experience of large-scale project delivery
Understanding of main contract and sub-contract conditions and documents.
An Ability to confidently comment on contract conditions, produce complete sub-contract documents etc.
Degree in Quantity Surveying
Experience of JCT form of contract
Assist the project teams by communicating the finances and budget against project progress
Present yourself clearly, concisely and accurately in subcontractors, clients, health & safety and environmental meetings to provide financial and budget information
Demonstrate excellent negotiation skills and build strong relationships with clients, consultants, supply chains and team members
Assist the project team in production of and meeting or exceeding project targets
Make and implement difficult and/or unpopular decisions.
